Midwest Kendo Federation

MWKF Annual board meeting 2008

Several items were decided that affect the membership as a whole.  In the future I hope to be able to post full minutes here.

  1.  A long discussion was held regarding membership requirements for promotion testing. For 1-kyu and above, the AUSKF requires that the person testing have a membership number.  This in turn requires that the promotion applicants have applied for MWKF/AUSKF membership with sufficient lead time prior to the test date.  It is up to the applicant to have gotten an AUSKF number by the time of the test.  Please note that membership applications go through your dojo, to the MWKF secretary and then periodically to AUSKF.   It was suggested that for the Detroit taikai, best to have your application sent in to the MWKF prior to 1/1/2009.  For MWKF taikai, best to get it done in the MWKF/AUSKF membership drive.
  2. The second MWKF student tournament will be held at Michigan State University.  Most likely this will be March or very early April. If you have not already dones so, and are a leader of a dojo that has students, please send Spring Break dates to fox at kendo dot msu dot edu as soon as possible so that we can fix the date.
  3. Summer Camp will be held at Michigan State University as well.  Dates will be announced as soon as possible.
  4. Elections where held for new Secretary and Promotions and Education VP:
    • Matsuura  sensei was re-elected Education VP
    • Tyler Zimmerman of Minnehaha dojo was elected Promotions V.P.
    • Travis Stronach of Univ. Wisc. Kendo dojo was elected Secretary.
  5. Dave Christman has asked to be relieved of the responsibility of maintaning this website.  Ron Fox was "stuck" with that job.
